Description:

EDUCATION:

  • High School or Equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ industrial experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Two years’ experience working in a lab environment preferred.
  • Two years’ cement plant experience preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

Performs analysis on specific materials being produced and takes proper actions in making adjustments to obtain the designated specifications in order to maintain the production of high-quality cement.

  • Samples, prepares and performs chemical and environmental analyses of raw materials, fuels, process, and final products.
  • Performs tests in accordance to ASTM, AASHTO and internal SOPs.
  • Ensures chemical analyses are in compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, and internal standards.
  • Evaluates sample results and determines any appropriate corrective actions
  • Back up to Physical Tester and Raw Mix Lab by performing specified duties when required.
  • Calibrates, verifies and maintains all laboratory equipment, both analytical and physical
  • Passes CCRL (Cement & Concrete Research Laboratories) samples to make sure cement is being tested properly for customer specifications.
  • Maintains the inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Runs studies to determine/develop new techniques to use during potential equipment failure as back-ups.
  • Ensure quality of work performed, participate in 5S and continuous improvement system, observe and promote best practices, good time management and be able to troubleshoot/analyze root cause failure.
  • Will work where and when needed as directed by plant supervisory personnel to meet plant needs.
  • Ability to utilize SAP to write work orders and purchase orders.
