Description:

We operate out of our UKAS-accredited lab in Norwich, where we offer cutting-edge solutions designed to ascertain how food and drink are produced, where they came from, how they were treated, and their quality and safety.
We offer actionable insights through our leading tech platform ‘Knowledge Base’, Dynamic Risk Management through our ‘SafeGuard+’ program of intelligence based interventions, and a ‘Managed Service’ offering unique dashboards combining data from different testing providers into one place making test result data accessible, usable, and useful.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with a practical working knowledge of a laboratory environment, gained either as part of a science-based qualification or though previous employment. You will have:

  • Excellent organisational and record keeping skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Critical thinking skills
  • An ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
  • High levels of confidentiality at all times
  • An ability to remain calm when dealing with multiple priorities
  • Strong IT skills

Responsibilities:

This exciting role, based principally in our Check In laboratory offers comprehensive training and the opportunity to learn the role in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure samples entering the laboratory are checked in according to Food Forensics Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Reviewing submission forms and querying missing information/highlight potential submission mistakes
  • Arrange courier transport and complete documentation for samples requiring subcontracted testing.
  • Distribute samples for internal SIRA or DNA testing to the appropriate department and perform sub-sampling where necessary.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective dispatch of packages, especially to overseas labs.
  • Assisting with day-to-day tasks in the SIRA Laboratory e.g. sample processing and preparation, including defatting/ freeze drying/ extractions/ weighing and daily laboratory maintenance/calibration.
