Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join the Protein crystallography small research facility (PX-SRF) at the Centre for Medicines Discovery, Nuffield Department for Medicine. The PX-SRF is actively involved in multiple fragment-based drug discovery projects and runs a cutting-edge, walk-in protein crystallography facility for academic users.
As part of the SRF you will be providing experimental, technical and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the facility. You will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day running of the laboratories including taking inventories, calibration of crystallography equipment, cleaning and assisting colleagues and students with using equipment according to best practice standards. In addition, you will assist in various experimental protocols including, but not limited to, protein production, setting up crystal screens, monitoring and harvesting crystals and collating and communicating results to the appropriate team members.
To be successful in this role, you will be educated to at least A-level, or equivalent qualification, in a science subject and have experience working in a wet laboratory environment. You will have strong attention to detail, with the ability to clearly label, organise, and store samples, along with the ability to record results in a clear and organized fashion and complete any electronic data entry required. Finally, you will also have the ability to manage your work load, using your initiative to identify and complete tasks as appropriate.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract until 31 July 2029 and is funded by the PX Small Research Facility.
Only applications received before 12 midday on Monday 12 August 2024 will be considered. Please quote 174220 on all correspondence
