Description:
JOB INTRODUCTION
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Laboratory Technician to join our Faulkner team. This position plays a critical role ensuring the highest quality of our products from the quarry to the finished product.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- College diploma in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience:
- Minimum of one year of laboratory experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Technical Skills:
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
- Understanding of laboratory equipment and sample preparation techniques.
- Familiarity with LECO analyzers is an asset.
- Communication Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Personal Attributes:
- Detail-oriented, meticulous, and able to work independently and safely.
Responsibilities:
- Safety:
- Engage in all activities related to safety operations, including safety training sessions and emergency drills.
- Adhere to all established safety standards and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Promptly report any safety incidents, near misses, or hazards to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist in conducting regular safety and housekeeping audits inspections to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of safety policies and procedures by providing feedback and suggestions.
- Ensure the proper use and maintenance of all required PPE.
- Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging safe practices and behaviors among all team members.
- Laboratory Operations:
- Participate in all activities related to laboratory operations, including quality control processes from raw materials to finished products.
- Sample Preparation:
- Prepare incoming samples for testing using crushers, pulverizers, and other laboratory equipment.
- Testing and Analysis:
- Conduct chemical and physical testing on limestone, lime products, and other raw materials using various instruments such as XRF, LECO analyzers, and sieve screening.
- Ensure all tests are conducted accurately and efficiently, meeting established turnaround times.
- Data Management:
- Enter test results into the laboratory information database promptly and accurately.
- Review sitewide data entry daily
- Recognize data trends and communicate this in daily meetings
- Quality and Safety Standards:
- Uphold the highest standards in product quality, safety, and environmental practices.
- Method Development:
- Develop and implement new methods to improve laboratory efficiency and accuracy.
- Environmental Compliance:
- Assist with environmental testing, reporting, and compliance to ensure regulatory standards are met.
- Quality Management System (QMS):
- Manage QMS initiatives
- Official Quality Management System (Intelex) defect coordinator for the site.
- Annual review of the Inspection Test Plan (ITP) and
- Annual review of Product Specification Sheets.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
- Ensure all SOPs for testing are current and adhered to by laboratory personnel.
- Customer Quality Concerns:
- Address and manage customer quality concerns through the Intelex QMS system.
- Initiate immediate product quality investigations regarding customer concerns or complaints. Immediate testing and reporting of the material in question.
- Utilizing Root Cause analysis tools to determine the causing factors.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on all laboratory equipment.
- Training:
- Train Kiln Specialists in testing procedures and proper use of laboratory equipment.
- Additional Duties:
- Present Quality Metrics in monthly site wide business reviews
- Perform other duties as assigned, such as preparing quarterly plant quality reviews for management.
- Willingness to work after hours and weekends as necessary.
