QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • A degree in a life science such as molecular biology, biochemistry or genetics or HND/HNC with laboratory experience
  • Preferably hands on experience and a basic understanding of laboratory techniques, especially those used in Molecular Biology. Experience in any of the following areas of Molecular Biology is desirable: PCR, qPCR, DNA Sequencing, DNA/RNA Extraction.
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to learn quickly during training and then perform tasks independently
  • Enthusiasm, drive, thoroughness, diligence and a willingness to take personal responsibility to ensure that projects are successful
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite

Responsibilities:

Yourgene Health, part of the Novacyt Group, are recruiting for a Laboratory Technician within our PCR Diagnostics Team based at Manchester Science Park. The Laboratory Technician will perform laboratory activities in the design and development of in vitro PCR diagnostic products and services, as well as performing general laboratory maintenance activities.
