Description:
ABOUT THE LAB
The Laboratory of Neuronal Communication, led by Prof. Patrik Verstreken, is part of the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Brain & Disease Research at Gasthuisberg Campus (Leuven, Belgium). We are a team of more than 30 international scientists/ admin. staff interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of healthy synaptic function and pathogenic synaptic dysfunction in the context of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. For this aim, we use classical models (fruit flies, mice, human induced pluripotent stem cells…) as well as innovative and underexplored models (hibernation in golden hamsters).
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a (junior) Laboratory Technician. In this role, you will work closely with postdoctoral researchers and PhD students to conduct both animal (mice, hamsters) and cell culture (mouse primary neurons, human iPSC-derived neurons) experiments, assist in data collection and analysis as well as support laboratory management. You will collaborate with team members to optimize experimental workflows, troubleshoot problems, and achieve project objectives.
