Description:

A Day in the Life:
Laborer is responsible for housekeeping operational functions of the Destrehan, LA soybean processing facility while training to do other various operational functions of the plant. Laborer will actively and effectively follow all safety policies and procedures of the company and in the role. Maintain a clean and orderly workplace as directed. Candidate must actively participate in Bunge’s Employee Safety Policy and maintain a safe work environment for self and all employees. Additionally, this role is responsible for demonstrating a commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site’s food safety management system and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
Position Details:
This role will work 8 & 12 hour shifts & will rotate from days to nights. The hourly rate of pay is $19.99.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assist all areas of unloading, loading, transferring of grain and grain products, including (but not limited to) barges, trucks, rail operations, and vessels and develop knowledge of the hazardous properties of grain and grain products
  • Proper operation of conveyance equipment utilized in shipping, receiving, and transferring of grain and grain products and knowledge/operation of safety systems associated with the equipment
  • Visually monitor grain and grain products for irregularities and take appropriate action upon discovery
  • Remove choke-ups and clean spills
  • Properly and accurately record relevant documentation for this role
  • Clean and prepare storage facilities, including (but not limited to) bins, flat storage, ground pods, and learn the locations and capacities of each
  • Openly and properly communicate when operating grain and grain and grain product handling equipment
  • Guage and report product levels in storage, barges, trucks, vessels, and railcars, as applicable
  • Daily equipment checks and other routine checks, which includes (but not limited to) grain handling equipment
  • Attain and maintain current training requirements for the role
  • Assist in all grain handling functions, including (but not limited to) grain receiving and shipping via truck, barge, rail, and some spout operations
  • Operation of skid loader, front end loader, and other location specific equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferred
  • TWIC card or ability to obtain TWIC card, required Written/Verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a highly quality controlled environment
  • Ability to work in a safety conscious environment
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with other facility personnel
  • Operation of mobile equipment experience or certification, preferred
  • Some mechanical background, including the ability to recognize signs of operation failure, preferred
