Labor Relations Advisor Responsibilities

  • Advise employees, management and operations on a wide range of labor and employee relations issues, including performance management, discipline, investigations, legal and interpersonal issues.
  • Coordinate grievance management at all stages, to minimize organizational and financial costs and develop good labor-management relations.
  • Analyze general labor relations issues and trends, such as systemic problems, policy and process concerns, and recommend optimization strategies.
  • Participate in various local labor-management meetings, including professional relations committees.

Labor Relations Advisor Qualifications

  • At least 1 to 3 years experience in human resources, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Post-secondary education in human resources or labour relations, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working in a federal jurisdiction is ideal.
  • Work experience and/or basic knowledge of collective agreement management.
  • Experience in disciplinary investigations and the implementation of corrective measures (e.g. disciplinary actions).
