ONA is seeking to hire a Labour Relations Officers-Leadership Development and Member Support to provide support and assistance to Bargaining Units in Region 4 that do not have Bargaining Unit Presidents. This position reports to the Regional Manager, Contract Administration- Region 4 and will be accountable for guiding and supporting the needs of our members, while ensuring the individual and collective rights of members are achieved and maintained.

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiates, leads contract administration, supports Bargaining Units and Locals in administration or without leadership and for those units that are in Member Policy 23.3 Assistance to Bargaining Units without a Bargaining Unit President and Member Policy 23.1 Invoked Administration.
  • Works with locals and members to develop and support a leadership structure/team.
  • Coaching/ Mentoring of new leaders/executives.
  • Prioritizing building stronger bargaining units and equipping bargaining unit representatives to better support the membership.
  • Provides assistance when there are issues of capacity/workload or where the Bargaining Units have complex labour relations issues in a health-care environment.
  • Consult with the Litigation and Negotiations Teams in preparation and presentation for arbitrations.
  • In partnership with our Professional Practice Specialist, ensure members receive timely guidance concerning professional practice issues.
  • Collaborate with Regional Vice-President in recruitment of a member interested in the position of Bargaining Unit President and other executive positions
  • Collaborate with the BOD for those units/locals in Administrative Oversight Member Policy 23.1 Invoked Administration.
