The West Vancouver Financial & Corporate Services Department has an immediate opening for a permanent full-time Land, Taxes and Utilities Clerk. We are seeking a high-energy, customer service-oriented individual with the experience, knowledge and capability to independently assist in the day-to-day processing of land, tax and utility collections as well as other functions. This position will be responsible for:

  • Organizing and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of corporate records for land, tax and utility services;
  • training and providing day-to-day support to customer service staff and assisting with more complex tasks;
  • identifying gaps in business applications and suggesting improvements;
  • liaising with staff to ensure land and contact records comply with District policies, bylaws and other legislative requirements;
  • providing detailed information and assistance to the public on a variety of routine and complex matters related to land, utilities and taxes;
  • acting as the primary contact for supervisors when issues or anomalies in land records arise;
  • providing effective customer service and assistance to in-person counter, telephone and email inquiries relative to customer billings, customer accounts, property taxes and homeowner grants; and
  • performing other related duties as required.

The successful candidate will also possess excellent written and oral communication skills, adeptness with numbers; the ability to make independent decisions in accordance with departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures; considerable knowledge of Tempest and an ability to work with data; experience in collections and cashiering, performing clerical work in a finance department, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
This position handles a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment and as such requires a highly organized individual who can perform well under pressure. The candidate will be required to multi-task and prioritize duties on a daily basis. Property tax and metered utilities experience in a municipal setting would be considered an asset.
The successful candidate is required to provide an acceptable police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status:
WVMEA (Union) – Permanent, Full-time
Hours of Work:
35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary).
Starting Rate of Pay:
$32.75 per hour. This position has a pay structure with five steps which increases annually.
