Description:
Salary: $51,700 - $63,200, commensurate with experience.

At MSU Landscape Services, we’re passionate about growing and maintaining the physical landscape to continually enhance the beauty and safety of Michigan State University’s campus. MSU Landscape Services has been maintaining campus as a living, learning laboratory since 1905! As leaders in the landscaping industry, we manage multiple landscape subsectors including Gardening/Horticulture, Turf & Irrigation, Tree Care, Hardscaping, Landscape Supply Yard & Logistics, Greenhouse and Nursery Operations, GIS & Landscape Architecture, Landscape Construction, Golf Course Operations, Snow Removal, and Fleet/Equipment Maintenance. This position will provide general customer service, administrative, and human resources support within the Landscape Services Business Office.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical school or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in human resources functions or similar office administration responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a valid vehicle operator’s license.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field. Experience participating in or overseeing staff recruitment efforts. Experience in public speaking. Experience with process mapping and documentation. Experience with data analysis and reporting. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications; Work experience in or knowledge of landscape industry practices.

Responsibilities:
30%: Serves as the front office point-of-contact for staff, customers, campus partners, vendors, and all other visitors. Receives mail and other packages and distributes accurately. Manages the Landscape Services email inbox. Assists staff members with technology troubleshooting related to time entry, wi-fi, Microsoft 365, password resetting, mobile devices, printers, etc. Assists in answering and solving payroll issues. Assists staff with operational processes related to employee travel requests, educational assistance processing, reimbursements, injury/accident reporting, and EBS/SAP transactions. Conducts periodic inventory evaluation on shirts, uniforms, and promo items and forecast needs for future purchases. Provides guidance and assistance to supervisors and staff with inquiries on policy, procedure, and contract interpretation. Documents and maintains operational processes for staff, supervisors, and business office-specific tasks. Maintains and audits employee personnel files for compliance. Assists with the scheduling and planning for staff events/meetings, community engagement events, and campus partnership opportunities.
30%: Assists the Landscape Services Business Office Manager in coordinating the departmental hiring efforts for fulltime, temporary, and seasonal staffing to include job postings oversight, applicant screening, interview scheduling, document coordination, EBS/SAP processing, medical/physical demands test scheduling, and recruitment efforts. Completes administrative tasks associated with new hires. Collects general hiring & onboarding data utilizing spreadsheets, surveys, and other tools to assist in report creation. Researches and suggests new recruitment strategies and hiring practices to best suit our staffing needs and to promote a diverse working environment. Schedules and attends career fairs and school visits for recruitment and awareness efforts.
25%: Coordinates the Landscape Services onboarding programs for fulltime, temporary, and seasonal staff. Maintains employee onboarding materials such as presentations, employee handbooks, and additional onboarding resources to provide informative and welcoming onboarding experiences. Facilitates seasonal staff onboarding sessions and assists in facilitation of temporary and full-time staff onboarding sessions. Coordinates offboarding initiatives such as checklists, surveys, exit interviews, and EBS/SAP termination processes.
15%: Coordinates the annual review processes for the department including coordination of documentation and employee surveys. Collects and analyzes performance management data to assist with departmental metrics.
