PACIFIC SANDS POSITION PROFILE
Position Title: Landscaper/Groundskeeper Crew Lead
Department: Property Operations
Schedule: As operations require, including weekends and statutory holidays
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Property Operations Manager the Landscaper/Groundskeeper Crew Lead will provide for the comfort of guests by ensuring that Resort grounds and public areas are clean, groomed and presented in an optimal aesthetic manner. A Landscaper/groundskeeper Crew Lead promotes a positive image of the property to guests, and must be pleasant, friendly and able to address problems or special requests.
QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
- Ability to work well unsupervised, at a fast pace while maintaining quality standards
- Ability to manage and cohesively work with fellow colleagues as part of a team
- Ability to maintain a high level of work ethic attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication, proficient in English both verbally and in written work
- Highly responsible and reliable
- Valid driver’s license
- Previous horticulture, landscaping or grounds-keeping experience/education is an asset
Responsibilities:
THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Provide 5-star customer service to all guests and Pacific Sands employees alike.
- Represent the Resort in a professional and respectful manner when working with existing and future third party vendors, trades and suppliers.
- Responsible for training and managing of small groundskeeping team.
- Support Property Operations Manager with staff performance management.
- Report any concerns or staffing issues with Property Operations Manager or Assistant Property Operations Manager.
- Manage holistic grounds plan including winterizing of property and seasonal prep.
- Perform regular upkeep to lawns and plant beds by mowing, mulching, weeding, aerating, grubbing, thatch removal, fertilizing, trimming or edging and pruning.
- Provide proper upkeep, maintenance and cleanliness of sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, fire pits, planters or other grounds features.
- Maintain cleanliness of resort signage, garbage/recycling bins, doggie bag dispensers, and ashtrays.
- Responsible for purchasing and maintaining inventory of materials required to perform work, including, landscaping materials and seasonal displays i.e. hanging baskets, Christmas and Thanksgiving displays, etc. Must present items for approval to PO Manager or APO Manager prior to ordering.
- Assist maintenance department with seasonal tasks where needed. i.e. Christmas light installation, preventative building maintenance, etc.
- Maintain close communications with other departments and managers in person, by email and via the resorts Whistle communication platform events that will impact daily operations and guest experience. i.e. Out of order units, noise, deliveries, etc.
- Operate vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin axle-vehicles, leaf blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters and pruning saws.
- Ensure the organization and tidiness of groundskeeping work and storage areas. Maintain and repair tools and equipment.
- Bring forward ideas and feedback for continual improvement of overall property grounds design and aesthetics.
- Comply with all Resort safety guidelines and be familiar with emergency procedures.
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects assigned.
