Description:

Crissair is looking for an entry level Lapping Technician.

Summary
Performs lapping duties as required including lapping, maintenance of lapping area and equipment, and other tasks as needed to assist the Machine Shop and/or Deburring department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other tasks and duties may be required as directed.

  • Prepare lapping machine
  • Measure poppets
  • Lap poppets on machine.
  • Remove and wash poppets as required.
  • Measure poppets and hand lap when within measurement range.
  • Lap to a 3 or better finish.
  • Wipe off all excess F.O.D. around poppet.
  • Check poppets under light band for flatness.
  • Run seats by hand on proper paper.
  • Check under microscope for nicks or dings.
  • Reject and/or re-lap as necessary when finishes are bad.
  • Maintain proper measurement at all times.
  • Receive and finish various parts from the machine shop.
  • Clean work areas including benches, shelves, walls, carts, lapping machines, and mopping floors.
  • Seek and document lean process improvement ideas for the department.

Qualification Requirements

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); no prior experience or training.

Language Skills

  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to write in simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read blueprints.

Math Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Skills

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer/ Office Skills

  • Basic windows/internet browser
  • ERP/Inventory
