Description:
The mission of this position is to help Church members fulfill their divinely appointed responsibility to discover their families through family history methods, submit their names to the temple for saving ordinances, and to help bring souls unto CHRIST.
FamilySearch is seeking candidates to assist patrons in the FamilySearch Library. We are seeking candidates to fill a full-time position with a focus on family history records, resources, and strategies for the countries of Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and Brazil.
We need self-driven, creative thinkers who can:
- Offer friendly, timely, and accurate service to the public.
- Provide quality research advice for the countries in Latin America, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France and other Western European countries.

Required skills:
- Ability to decipher and translate handwritten genealogical records in Spanish and Portuguese
- Familiar with research methodologies for the above-mentioned countries.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Family History and 4 years of experience (or related field) or equivalent work experience with specialization in Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and Brazil.
- High technology skills, especially with internet searching. Competence with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of FamilySearch products (FamilySearch.org; Wiki; Family Tree, Catalog, etc.)
- Advanced genealogical research skills.
- Fluent Spanish or Portuguese language skills
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).Excellent presentation and teaching skills.
Not required but helpful:
- A CG or AG credential in one of the Latin America, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, or Brazil regions or equivalent experience in genealogy, history, or a related field. Those candidates without a credential, if hired, must be willing to obtain one.
- Ability to research in other Southern European countries, such as Italy and France.
- Ability to decipher and translate handwritten genealogical records in Italian, French, Latin, or other languages relevant to Latin America.
