JOB OVERVIEW
Walker Law is looking for an experienced Commercial Law Clerk with at least 5+ years of commercial litigation experience to join our team. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues are essential.
SKILLS
- Completion of a post-secondary program in a relevant field (e.g., legal assistant, law clerk, paralegal) with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in commercial litigation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
- Capable of independently managing multiple tasks.
- Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure and general court processes.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing urgent issues.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and typing skills (75-80 wpm).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, GhostPractice, ACL, LEAP.
- Research experience (CanLii, Westlaw) is a plus.
- Willing to work occasional overtime as needed.

Responsibilities:
- Draft various pleadings and file court documents via the e-Civil filing portal.
- Prepare, revise, and proofread drafts of correspondence and legal documents.
- Familiarity with applications such as Dropbox, Docusign, Zoom, ACL, LEAP, GhostPractice, and Caselines, with a willingness to learn new programs.
- Schedule and coordinate examinations, prepare and issue notice of examinations, and draft preparation letters to clients.
- Organize and review client documents, identify missing items based on pleadings and client-provided information, and prepare Affidavits of Documents.
- Order transcripts, draft undertaking charts
- Prepare mediation briefs, pre-trial briefs, and assist with trial preparation, including issuing summons and preparing joint books of documents.
- Experience with injunctions is a plus.
- Commissioner of Affidavits is plus.
