Responsibilities:

Duties to include but not be limited to:

  • Assisting attorneys with legal research on federal and state laws pertaining to medical cannabis.
  • Investigating facts related to medical cannabis cases and compiling relevant information.
  • Conducting comprehensive legal research using various law sources and preparing memorandums to analyze case law.
  • Drafting regulations, legal guidance materials, and other resources to ensure compliance with federal and state laws governing the medical cannabis program.
  • Collaborating closely with attorneys to gain insights into the cabinet’s legal processes and procedures.
  • Assisting with legal reviews of internal files, documents, records, and e-filing records to maintain accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Attending and tracking legislative and regulatory hearings, meetings of the Board of Physicians and Advisors, and the Team Kentucky Medical Cannabis Workgroup.
  • Taking detailed notes during meetings and drafting minutes for further legal review.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support the legal team and the overall objectives of the medical cannabis program

  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively interpret and apply legal principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy and precision in legal documentation.
  • Familiarity with legal research tools and resources, including online databases and case law repositories.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated interest in public health, regulatory compliance, or related fields is preferred but not required
