The opportunity
This is a unique opportunity for a Corporate Lawyer to join QBE’s Group Legal – Corporate Team. This is a team based out of QBE’s headquarters in Sydney which supports a range of global strategic stakeholders.
Reporting to a Senior Legal Counsel – Corporate, you will be working on general corporate matters with a focus on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), venture capital investment and other corporate development activities.
You will also play a supporting role in work related to QBE’s centralised group investments and treasury functions.
Your new role

Key accountabilities include:

  • reviewing, drafting, and settling various legal documents, such as non-disclosure agreements, board resolutions, and transaction documents
  • drafting correspondence, managing documentation, supporting the management and execution of key projects (including cross border work) and coordinating discrete workstreams such as due diligence
  • conducting legal and governance-related research as required
  • coordinating across various stakeholders in the broader legal team (Group and Divisional) and the business to manage implementation of key projects;
  • maintaining detailed subject matter knowledge and supporting best practice and governance across the team

Your story so far
A positive attitude, strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential for success in this role and within our team.

You must have:

  • Law degree; Australian practicing certificate
  • Corporate experience is advantageous
  • Post admission experience acquired in either a recognised corporate law firm or legal department of ASX 50 corporation (or foreign equivalent) in general corporate matters.
