WHAT DO I NEED?
This role would suit a lawyer with experience in financial markets products and/or regulation who is looking to develop their legal and business skills and gain experience in financial services.
We are looking for candidates who possess the following skills:
- Either:
- experience with financial markets products and industry-standard documentation, such as ISDA Master Agreements; or
- experience with financial markets regulation, such as Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act or EMIR and MiFID.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and sustain key relationships with business partners, Westpac Legal colleagues and law firms
- Financial products/ Trading experience
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- A self-starter, with initiative to drive matters forward and willingness to learn
- Strong time management skills
Responsibilities:
- Advising on financial markets trading agreements, including on compliance with regulatory and prudential standards
- Advising on product governance, including on product documentation and regulatory requirements
- Supporting relationships with brokers and other providers of financial markets infrastructure
- Supporting new developments in both in-house legal practice and financial services, such as contract automation, digital distribution and data analytics
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of team know how and trainin
