The successful candidate will have:

  • Supervisory experience or exposure to leading or managing teams.
  • Experience in a busy and/or complex administration environment.
  • The ability to be calm, adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with challenging people.
  • A positive team approach that is solutions focused.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience in a tertiary education institution would be advantageous.

    Then we have the role for you!
    You would join, and have the support of, a great team of Lead Administrators, and together you would lead a team of administrators and support academic leaders (Deans, Heads of Departments/sections, Associate Deans, Directors) to achieve teaching, research and service commitments of the School.

The role will require you to:

  • Effectively lead, train, equip and support your team of administrators to fulfil their roles.
  • Support your academic leaders with operational and strategic support.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with your team, academic leaders, departmental staff and students, and your Lead Administrator team.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the administrative tasks within the School, and systems and processes in the University of Otago/ Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka.
  • Effectively contribute to an operational and administrative leadership team involved in strategic initiatives, process improvement and projects.
  • Lead change.
