Description:
Are you an experienced, innovative engineer with an interest in helping the Ministry of Transportation enhance its investment decision-making for managing the provincial highway network?
We are seeking an enthusiastic, results-oriented individual whose engineering expertise and analytical skills will help the division’s asset management team deliver on key objectives.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
- You have knowledge of highway engineering theories and practices related to planning, design, construction, rehabilitation, maintenance and operation
- You have knowledge of asset management models, systems and tools, analytical techniques (e.g., value-for-money, economic impact assessment, life cycle costing, benefit/cost analysis), engineering economics, and financial and capital planning
- You have knowledge in the application of state-of-the-art computer technology, software and data management techniques to maintain, extract, analyze and report information related to highway infrastructure
ANALYTICAL, ORGANIZATIONAL AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILLS
- You have proven analytical and evaluative skills to review technical data, policies and reports, draw conclusions and provide recommendations, including financial implications
- You have planning and organizational skills to support the Ministry’s asset management program, including capital needs analysis for the annual funding request process
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
- You have interpersonal skills to lead, consult, promote and support partnerships among stakeholders and staff
- You have written communication skills to prepare guidelines, reports, correspondence, briefing notes, and detailed project proposals
- You have oral communication skills to provide technical advice and training, and to participate on committees and task forces
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will provide engineering advice and support:
- for the ministry’s asset management program and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- for the analyses of asset management data to identify priority rehabilitation needs and potential business impacts, and make recommendations to senior management
- for the division’s Expansion Prioritization Framework, policies and processes to identify strategic highway expansion projects.
- for the division’s multi-year planning process and investment decision-making for the capital construction program, including business case development for submission to central funding agencies
- as a team member on a broad variety of cross-functional, cross-divisional and inter-ministerial technical task groups and project teams to promote effective management of assets and investment decision-making.
