JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) will provide clinical supervision to other Behavioral Health Consultants. The Lead BHC will work collaboratively with integrated care and specialty care teams to deliver comprehensive behavioral health services.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Participates in Core Connections training and applies GPTLHB Core Connections concepts and practices in their work.
  • Familiarity and/or experience working with American Indian populations and respect for and knowledge of traditional, cultural and spiritual practices of diverse American Indian communities, as well as an ability to work with other culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
  • Possess the ability to resolve issues with other departments and coworkers without direct supervision.
  • Able to exercise flexibility to alter plans/routines when situations require and continue to perform without projecting stress/frustration that would adversely affect the work environment.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and overnight or extended travel as necessary.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to community members, consumers and other employees of the organization.
  • Proficiency with computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other Internet technologies.
  • Valid driver’s license must be kept current, and certificates, credentials or licenses must be kept current and consistent with regulations required by applicable federal, state and/or grant regulations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree, three years of relevant experience, and LCSW – PIP.
This is a senior professional and/or management position that requires post-secondary education and/or considerable experience or a clinical degree requiring a clinical rotation/internship. Individuals must have applicable education and/or experience applying principles, concepts, and methodology of a professional or administrative occupation to permit the independent performance of recurring assignments or carrying out difficult/complex assignments, operations, and procedures; or applicable education and/or experience applying a wide range of technical methods, principles, and practices similar to a narrow area of a professional field such as the design and planning of difficult, but well-precedented projects

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate closely with physicians and other healthcare personnel in patient evaluation and treatment to enhance their understanding of significant social and emotional factors underlying a patient’s health issues.
  • Offer guidance and support to Behavioral Health Consultants while providing clinical supervision.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments with relatives when needed.
  • Perform independent substance use disorders and mental health screenings, assessments, and therapy by observing, interpreting, and intervening in the full range of complex emotional, behavioral, and mental health disorders as outlined by the DSM-5.
  • Deliver professional social work services, including diagnostic treatment and assessment for individuals, families, and groups; develop interventions based on needs assessments, and exercise professional judgment in consultation with the supervisory behavioral health provider to provide problem-focused, culturally appropriate care.
  • Provide behavioral health services in various community settings, including homes, schools, clinics, job sites, and other locations to eligible individuals as directed.
  • Manage cases for ongoing follow-up and coordinate treatment referrals once cases are stabilized within the intervention team.
  • Organize, coordinate, develop, and lead therapeutic groups for individuals and families of all ages.
  • Deliver crisis intervention services to clients with a wide variety of acute mental health problems.
  • Make sound, well-informed, and objective decisions; recognize the impact and implications of decisions; commit to action even in uncertain situations to accomplish organizational goals.
  • Provide professional written documentation for medical records (Electronic Health Records) and produce statistical and other reports as requested.
  • Serve as a liaison to other healthcare professionals/agencies and social welfare agencies, including tribal, state, federal, and private entities.
  • Establish and maintain a multidisciplinary integrated treatment plan and case management. Coordinate with Purchased Referred Care in developing resources for challenging and/or high-cost cases.
  • Comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Privacy Act of 1974.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
