Salary: UOM 9 – $139,693 – $145,339 p.a. plus 17% super

You will have strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence a diverse range of university stakeholders. You will also possess excellent analytical thinking, data storytelling, and communication abilities, enabling you to interpret complex data, drive insights, and effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, you will be a leader, mentoring teams, fostering collaboration, and adapting to evolving data needs and technologies while solving problems efficiently.
You will also have:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Information Technology, Business, or a relevant discipline, combined with extensive management experience in a large, complex organisation, or an equivalent combination of education and significant relevant experience.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a lead data analyst role, either working on transformational data projects or within a technical Business Intelligence team.
- Strong expertise in SQL.
- Proven experience in source system analysis and mapping.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Lead BI Data Analyst will play a key technical role within the Data Operations and Analytics team, responsible for managing critical components of data projects while mentoring junior analysts. The role involves translating business requirements into data specifications, performing source system analysis, and collaborating with IT teams and data modellers to ensure accurate data models. Additionally, the Lead BI Data Analyst will assist in user workshops, training sessions, and troubleshooting incidents to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the technical data analysis for Business Intelligence projects, acting as a subject matter expert to understand the University’s data from both a technical and business perspective.
- Conducting data discovery exercises, producing mapping documentation, and using tools like SQL, Python, and visualisation techniques to identify relationships, business logic, and data quality issues.
- Managing data analysis components of projects, collaborating cross-functionally with IT and other teams to identify data sources and ensure successful project delivery.
- Mentoring and guiding junior analysts, overseeing their work, and developing processes and templates to capture data requirements effectively.
