Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated Lead Biospecimen Coordinator to manage the prostate tissue bank and to support research trials run within the Clinical Trials Unit Urology Chelsea (CTUUC) at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. This position requires a skilled, independent professional to perform all tissue handling practices for CTUUC research projects in collaboration with ICR and other organisations.
The post holder will oversee collecting tissue samples from internally and externally, allocating samples for downstream assays, preparing samples for shipment, entering, and maintaining data to ensure accurate records of all specimens, and proper handling of all specimens, all with strong collaboration with other teams and organisations. They are experienced in working in compliance with Human Tissue Authority (HTA), global standards and regulations following defined SOP’s and within a GCP environment. They will be responsible to lead internal and external audits and to assist in implementing corrective actions.

Leading the tissue collecting team working within Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and our Academic partner Institute of Cancer Research at Chelsea site.
Ensuring the seamless delivery of biobanking within CTUUC, with oversight and management of members of staff within the department across both sites.
Ensuring the collection of human samples is undertaken in accordance with the Human Tissue Act (HTA), and proactively support staff to progress their responsibility within CTUUC.

The post holder will be responsible for leading and assisting on projects within CTUUC, with careful and consistent logging of all analysis steps.
The post holder will be responsible for the collection and processing of clinical samples (tissue and blood) from CTUUC across Royal Marsden.
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of samples from multi- centre studies hosted by the CTUUC and for the ongoing quality control procedures
