Our client, a well-established and actively expanding Lloyd’s Syndicate Insurance firm, is seeking a Lead Business Intelligence professional to head their team of Business Intelligence Performance Analysts. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with BI tools to create analytics dashboards that provide valuable insights and support effective business decision-making. As the leader of a team of analysts, you will be a hands-on technical leader who sets the pace, appropriately delegates tasks, and confidently interacts with senior stakeholders.This role offers the opportunity to engage directly with Senior Management and influence change.
Previous Insurance and/or Financial Services experience is NOT required, so this is a fantastic opportunity to break into an industry that prioritises the effective use of data driven insights. What is essential is your ability to lead, motivate, and effectively delegate within a team. You will be adept at communicating with various business areas, understanding their requirements, extracting relevant data, and providing meaningful visualization and insight. Our client uses Power BI but is open to experience with other BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik, or Looker etc.
THE ROLE: Lead Business Intelligence Performance Analyst
In collaboration with your team, you will provide analytics support to the business, helping manage performance and risk for a portfolio of insurance-related products. Responsibilities include developing processes to monitor product performance, producing regular dashboards, and maintaining best practice data standards.
As a hands-on Team Lead, you will plan and assign work across the team, define and embed best practices, and ensure effective use of data assets across the firm. You will work closely with all revenue-generating areas, leading processes and building strong stakeholder relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead Business Intelligence Performance Analyst
- Plan and assign work across the Business Intelligence Analytics team.
- Define and implement best practice standards for data and analysis.
- Promote process improvements, utilizing new data sources and software applications such as SQL, Power BI, and bespoke data science and machine learning tools.
- Develop data assets and analytical tools to support Underwriting, track product performance, manage risk appetite, and make trading decisions.
- Identify opportunities for profitable growth and shape long-term strategic goals.
- Support financial planning and track key performance indicators against the business plan.
- Provide feedback on pricing models, quickly identifying emerging trends and risks.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Lead Business Intelligence Performance Analyst
- Experience in planning and managing resources across a small team.
- Strong background in working with data and delivering data-driven solutions, including data extraction, manipulation, and visualization via dashboards.
- Proficiency in using software applications for data analysis, including SQL and Power BI (or similar BI tools).
- An interest in data science and a curiosity for working with advanced data analytics technology.
- Ambitious and enthusiastic, with a desire to continuously improve your management, communication, and technical skills.
