As a member of the Corporate Purchasing team, the Lead Buyer reports to the Director of Supply Chain Services, Johnson Electric Canada. The Lead Buyer will lead the strategy development, implementation and execution of goals and objectives that are focused on purchasing to enhance the overall performance of Johnson Electric Canada. A critical element of this role is to establish and build strong relationships with core suppliers to support JEC. Travel within North America and some travel to global facilities will be required.

Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead the development and implementation of core product strategies
  • Advanced vendor negotiation and program management skills, ability to lead sourcing events, influence key decision makers, and build successful partnerships with internal business units.
  • Facilitate the definition of the core product strategies, goals and deliverables
  • Research the potential supply base for Companies that complement the Global Strategies, Mission Statement and Core Values of Johnson Electric Canada
  • Establish strong relationships with key suppliers and build on existing partnerships
  • Implement a system and process that drives the most optimal Total Cost of Ownership when considering the entire supply chain
  • Champion all activities associated with continual cost improvements
  • Total Cost of Ownership is inclusive of hard costs (packaging , freight , tooling , piece price, terms, currency ) and soft costs (Scorecard , quality , EOQ )
  • Provide direction and support to suppliers through all aspects of program management and product launches
  • Provide consistent communication to key suppliers regarding performance metrics
  • Integral role in supporting the overall initiatives of Global Purchasing
  • Conducts analysis on spending and budget data, presents findings and makes recommendations to senior management to meet objectives of improving financial performance and realizing cost savings
  • Works in compliance with Johnson Electric Quality and EHS Policies and Procedures, including IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001
  • Perform other duties as required

Our requirements:

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Engineering or Business preferred
  • Excellent leadership and teambuilding skills required
  • Ability to work with internal and external parties to identify business requirements, design and implement business solutions, monitor vendor performance and/or resolve issues with diplomacy as required
  • ERP user experience
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels Senior Management and other levels within the organization
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude is necessary
  • Must perform with the utmost integrity and be a cross functional team player
  • Proven experience in building contractual agreement with suppliers

Technical & Skill Requirements:

  • Indirect Purchasing (MRO) Experience required (manufacturing industry experience is preferred)
  • Minimum 3-5 years progressive purchasing experience required in indirect purchasing (MRO)
