BOSS Energy has been retained by a leading Clean Technology company seeking to hire seeking to hire a Lead Chemical Engineer in their industrialization team.
You will work in the catalytic chemistry research from the R&D team into plant manufacturing specifications and requirements at all relevant phases.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a technical discipline such as chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial setting, engineering firm, or chemical lab environment.
  • Strong capacity to acquire new knowledge with minimal supervision.
  • Highly driven with a collaborative team-oriented approach.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic setting.
  • Skilled in managing multiple projects, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong organizational abilities and keen attention to detail.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and process simulation is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of French and Dutch is beneficial.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the advancement of innovative technology from the R&D phase through to kilo-lab, pilot, and full-scale production, covering both batch and continuous processes.
  • Oversee a team of chemists and chemical engineers, managing the lab’s operations including chemical and equipment supplies, and providing support for troubleshooting instruments.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols within the kilo-lab and contribute to chemical process safety assessments, addressing factors like flammability and exothermic reactions.
  • Collaborate closely with the R&D team to ensure alignment on technical requirements and effective project implementation throughout the scale-up process.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of reactor design to address scale-up challenges in chemical processes.
  • Conduct studies required for designing and sizing kilo-lab and pilot plant systems, as well as reviewing and assessing process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Perform engineering-led financial assessments, including cost-benefit analyses.
  • Stay informed on the latest industry developments in process equipment, maintaining expertise on the advantages and limitations of a wide range of apparatus such as reactors, distillation units, gas separation systems, and mixers.
