Description:

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.
We provide the front end design and engineering capability across the PPP portfolio. Being part of the PPP Team offers a unique opportunity to drive change and innovation in engineering, safety and delivery solutions in one of the most complex industrial sites in the UK if not the world. We are looking for people who are passionate about developing themselves and in meeting new challenges.
As a result of this increasing demand for our services we are looking for a Lead Civil Engineer to join our team in Birchwood Park, Warrington.

OUR CULTURE:

Our values stand on a foundation of safety, integrity, inclusion and diversity. We put people at the heart of our business, and we genuinely believe that we all succeed by supporting one another through our culture of caring. We value positive mental health and a sense of belonging for all employees.
We aim to embed inclusion and diversity in everything we do. We know that if we are inclusive, we’re more connected, and if we are diverse, we’re more creative. We accept people for who they are, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, mental health, race, faith or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and whether you’re pregnant or on family leave. This is reflected in our wide range of Global Employee Networks centered on inclusion and diversity.
We partner with VERCIDA to help us attract and retain diverse talent. For greater online accessibility, please visit www.vercida.com to view and access our roles. As a Disability Confident employer, we will interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a vacancy. We welcome applications from candidates who are seeking flexible working and from those who may not meet all the listed requirements for a role.
If you require further support or reasonable adjustments with regards to the recruitment process (for example, you require the application form in a different format), please contact the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of the civil engineering design associated with the Enabling works (services diversions and land remediation) to allow the new facility to be constructed on a brownfield site, whilst enabling surrounding facilities to remain functional.

  • Inputting into the layouts being developed by the mechanical and process engineering team (e.g. below ground services connections, drainage, flood risk, road access)

  • Inputting into environmental remediation strategy (e.g. cut and fill strategy, materials management plan). The existing site is brownfield and will require significant site investigation and remediation prior to new construction works being undertaken.
  • Advising on drainage strategy for the site incorporating any flood risk requirements.
  • Reviewing site access logistics (e.g. road layouts)
  • Develop appropriate deliverables list and format (drawings, specifications, reports, BIM etc.)
  • Leading co-ordination and collaboration with other engineering disciplines and wider stakeholders (particularly below ground services co-ordination).
  • Work with the CS&A RE and Lead engineers to develop design and construction strategy for the project (e.g. programme, deliverables, resource forecasting)
