Description:
The Lead, Continuous Improvement (CI) is responsible for guiding CI projects and directing Specialists through the full project life cycle to improve quality, reduce costs and improve delivery at Seaspan Shipyards. Supporting the business in achieving target performance across all business functions the Lead will seize opportunities to train CI techniques and enhance the culture of Continuous Improvement through direct and indirect outreach.
Responsibilities:
- Mentor and coach team members, and others, in the proper use of improvement tools and techniques.
- As required, organize internal and external Lean Six Sigma training, including the LSS Belt program and ad hoc training to support the business needs.
- As a recognized CI expert, the Lead, CI will develop, prioritize, and deliver improvement projects with relevant stakeholders, including, communication of progress and results, monitoring effectiveness, and ensuring sustainability.
- Perform root cause analysis, strategic business analysis, and project planning to prioritize and initiate improvement projects, both internally and in support of other functions.
- Support the delivery of initiatives led by other departments, in particular high priority projects requiring cross-departmental support.
- Utilizing various communication channels, share and promote continuous improvement best practices with employees and managers to facilitate a collaborative, continuous improvement culture.
- Ensure the Seaspan Management of Change procedure is utilized as required.
- Research, evaluate, and implement current industry best practice methods, procedures, and technology, as relevant to assigned projects or department in general.
- Perform process and gap analysis to ensure compatibility and interoperability of processes and systems.
- Act as the delegate to the Senior Manager, CI as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Write executive summaries, trending cost savings, cost avoidance and capacity increase initiatives.
