Job Description
We are looking for a Lead Contract Manager to join our Major Projects team, which is responsible for the development of large-scale projects undertaken by our various business sectors. On a daily basis, you will collaborate with colleagues and various multidisciplinary work teams on these projects.
You will contribute your knowledge, expertise and experience of contract negotiation and execution in coordinating commercial and contractual negotiations with stakeholders, executing our administrative process, coordinating all project interfaces, as well as risk management.
We offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement that allows you to work from home and from one of our offices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College diploma (DCS) or university degree (BAC) in engineering or university degree in law combined with professional experience as a paralegal (an asset)
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years’ experience in engineering and construction, including a minimum of seven (7) years in contract administration and commercial management of construction projects in infrastructure-related fields, including road transport networks, water treatment, buildings, passenger transport systems, airports, ports, power generation and distribution, etc.
  • Experience and knowledge of alternative delivery models, such as public-private partnerships, progressive design build, design build, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction and contracting principles, methods, procedures and best practices, including contract administration in the event of changes, claims and delays
  • Experience in project planning, risk management, cost management, schedule management and preparation/administration of contract documents and specifications
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Good command of procurement processes (call for qualification, call for proposals, contract review)
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook)
  • Ability to travel regularly, mainly in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, with occasional trips to Western and Eastern Canada
  • Ability to travel regularly to active construction sites to participate in project meetings and management meetings, which may require periods of co-location in project offices or on construction sites

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our business sectors in the development and selection of business opportunities for major projects
  • Review tenders for major projects and support tender teams in reviewing and approving tenders forwarded to higher levels.
  • Support and guide our CIMA+ business units in the following areas:
  • Negotiate major projects and participate in commercial and contractual transactions (and lead them, where appropriate).
  • Coordinate exchanges between customers, project management and contractors responsible for change management and follow-up of contractual deliverables within deadlines
  • Monitor and report on the status of construction contracts in progress and intervene to resolve any problem that may arise as part of a proactive, collaborative approach.
  • Apply the rules of commercial and contractual governance and corporate risk management
  • Collaborate with support services for major projects, particularly in the areas of project execution, risk management, procurement, legal services, finance or health and safety
  • Ensure the rigour of our processes and management tools/systems
