This is an exciting time to join the HSBC UK Credit Risk Management team. We have multiple roles available due to continued growth and investment across Retail Banking. These opportunities can be based across Leeds, Birmingham, Chester & Sheffield with Hybrid working from home. You will have the opportunity to work with an award-winning function (winners of best credit modelling & risk team of the year, consumer credit team of the year, best use of technology in 2021 and Outstanding Conduct in Collections -2022). If you join us, you will spend your time:

  • Developing, maintaining and improving credit risk strategies to allow us to make high quality decisions for our customers driven by data.
  • Providing analyses to run credit portfolios against agreed performance indicators.
  • Supporting growth in the business through the delivery of WPB initiatives, delivering analytics to enable the design and roll-out of new lending products, enhancing existing product features and managing the exposure of our existing customers.
  • Leading complex analytical projects to completion with minimal guidance;
  • Formulating and clearly communicating conclusions and proposals giving consideration to the risk, reward and customer impact, collaborating with teams to make decisions;
  • Identifying solutions to emerging risk issues, changing priorities, project completion issues and areas of conflict;
  • Challenging established policy and procedures, where appropriate and suggesting improvements;
  • Ensuring portfolio strategies and processes are aligned with the appropriate regulations and regulator guidance;
  • Building strong interpersonal relationships and engaging with the wider organisation to provide insight and support for changes required to improve customer outcomes;
  • Build relationships with and shape the development of junior team members and offshore analysts improving their knowledge, understanding and experience;
  • Report progress on initiatives to Senior Management/governance forums on a regular basis;
  • Maintain the highest standards of documentation

To be successful in this job, we need you to have or do most of these things:

  • Previous experience in a relevant role, e.g. Credit Risk Analytics, Collections Analytics or an Analysis based role, with experience of secured or unsecured products;
  • Excellent attention to detail and a track record of analytical capabilities using relevant software packages (i.e. SAS/SQL/VBA/Python) to analyse large amounts of data, draw conclusions and drive actions;
  • An understanding of consumer lending products, profitability and credit risk;
  • Experience of successful project management, working across a range of teams to deliver;
  • You enjoy working collaboratively and are a clear communicator;
  • You are motivated by making a positive contribution to how we support our customers and deliver for HSBC;
  • Knowledge of FCA regulations and experience of their application in a consumer lending environment
  • Possess a degree/qualification in an analytical/numerical field or equivalent

This is a hybrid role based in Birmigham, Chester, Leeds or Sheffield
