Description:

We are the people behind Ireland’s electricity grid. We operate the power system with world leading levels of variable asynchronous renewable generation, ensuring that everyone has power when they need it. But that’s not all, we are now transforming the power system for future generations.
And that’s just the beginning of our story. We have a critical purpose. That purpose is to transform the power system to enable our society to reduce our carbon emissions and meet our climate change and net zero ambitions.
Be part of the transformation!

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are now seeking a Cross Border Specialist Lead to join our Interconnection Function.
As Cross Border Specialist Lead you will support the Interconnection function in ensuring that it fulfils its objective to integrate and optimise the use of HVDC interconnection assets to deliver the greatest benefit to the System Operation of the Irish transmission grid while supporting the ongoing integration of renewable generation resources.
You will have excellent working knowledge of the regulatory requirements for HVDC interconnectors, electrical power systems and wholesale power market arrangements.
This role will involve you taking the lead on market, regulatory and policy issues in the best interest of EirGrid’s Interconnectors.
You will be responsible for providing timely, accurate and in-depth analysis of energy policy and regulatory issues impacting on interconnectors to support management decisions, external relationships and ongoing reporting obligations towards Ireland, EU and GB regulatory authorities and government departments.
A key requirement for this role is to influence regulatory developments through public consultation, participating in relevant industry working groups as well as conducting market and economic analysis. You will also support in the identifying and assessing business development opportunities for further interconnection.
