Position Description

JOB/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the Lead Custodian provides leadership in all facets of the cleaning operation for University Housing giving work direction and training for the custodial staff and student employee staff in this department. Working independently and/or as part of a team, the incumbent is responsible for providing general cleaning and custodial care and support, performing their duties in their specific assigned work area and in other work areas as needed. Work areas are located within buildings, facilities, structures, public areas, patios, entryways and workshops, adjacent areas and/or portions thereof, but are not limited to these areas.
The essential functions and responsibilities listed in this position description are typical work activities and the general range of work functions performed by Lead Custodians, they are not an all-inclusive or restrictive list of custodial-related work. University Housing maintains, operates, and protects CSU Chico’s student housing and related facilities and environs to provide an atmosphere that is conducive to learning, safe and healthy for the campus community, and attractive for visitors while preserving the physical heritage for future generations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The knowledge and skills needed to perform duties is typically demonstrated with equivalent to one to two years of related custodial experience and providing on-the-job training and leadership to others.
