Elevator Mechanics and Light Materials tribe is responsible of developing all mechanical elevator components in KONE portfolio globally and ensuring the safety, quality, and performance of those components throughout their entire lifecycle. We are actively scouting for opportunities to create new value to our customers by implementing new innovative and more sustainable elevator designs.
We are now looking for a Lead Engineer, Ropes & Hoisting to join one of the Elevator mechanics and Light Materials Tribe agile teams for designing, sourcing, testing, and maintaining hoisting members in the group of mechanical and test engineers at KONE Technology and Innovation / R&D in Hyvinkää, Finland.
Focus area in this role is hoisting members and hoisting systems tangible projects having a crucial role in testing, test outcomes knowledge creation and engineering work ensuring added customer value.
As a Lead Engineer, Ropes & Hoisting you will work mainly with following topics:
- Accountable and responsible for creating detailed design specification from requirements
- Active participation in testing and research of new or existing hoisting members
- Test plan creation and execution, research of material and mechanical aspects influencing with hoisting members and system interoperability
- Knowledge creation through test results, scientific articles, and collaboration with the suppliers and validation of test results
- Participation in system level research and implementation projects hoisting member testing
- Active role in selecting subcontractors and/or technology partners when activities are externalized
- Responsible to prepare suitable verification and validation plan for own scope of development
- When playing role in development processes (Blue, Purple, CR), Lead Engineer is responsible for technical outcome of corresponding solution.
- Supports Sourcing and Supply Chain teams on technical aspects relating to the component or subsystem.
- Support and guide engineers with technical competences in engineering design and verification.
EDUCATION AND CORE SKILLS
- MSc. degree in mechanical engineering, materials, production technology
- Achievements with components engineering, testing, project work with innovative mindset and communication over several years
- Problem solving and coordination among technical understanding creation
- Self-driven team player
- Good skills in English
- Earlier work experience on similar research or testing or development activities and duties
FOLLOWING SKILLS ARE ASSET
- Expertise in composites, steels, elastomers, and their characterization
- Statistical analysis mindset, like Six Sigma or similar.
- Earlier experience on modelling with Creo 3D
- Having understood on elevator components, sub-systems mechanical designs, criterion of load bearing structures and cost-efficient manufacturing methods
- Experience of lean and agile ways of working
