About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the Lead Operator is accountable for providing the field operations team with daily direction in order to operate in a safe, efficient, and environmentally conscious manner. This role will provide leadership in identifying and implementing ideas which will improve productivity, efficiency and safe operations. This is a developmental position for individuals that exhibit leadership skills and supervisory potential. Individuals in this role should be willing to progress to the Operations Coordinator supervisory position.
Work Environment:
This role is based in Rainbow Lake and is 14 days on 14 days off rotational role. The role requires the successful candidate to live in Rainbow Lake while on shift. Location premium may be provided.

What you’ll do:

  • Operations Coordinator directed special projects - Prioritize, delegate, and schedule Rainbow Lake/Bivouac projects. Communicate to all departments in designated area and send a weekly report to Operations Coordinator and Senior Supervisor.
  • Operations Coordinator coverage as required.
  • Attend operations leadership meetings.
  • Turnaround coverage and support
  • Coaching Lead and mentor for operating area
  • Complete Monthly assurance activities
  • Well reactivation
  • Well startups
  • Well optimization
  • Well reconfiguration
  • Well/Facility layup
  • Pipeline inspections.
  • Coordinate daily operation and maintenance of the Rainbow Lake/Bivouac fields and provide coordination during regular operations, turnarounds, and upsets. Promote a collaborative team environment across field operations.
  • Troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per Cenovus guidelines.
  • Review condition monitoring daily production including sampling and testing per area responsibilities. Confirm accuracy of area operations records. (e.g. volume balances, log sheets, work permits, and required reports) Provide field production reports, as required to Leadership and authorized personnel.
  • Provide assistance, coaching, on-the-job training, and assessments to area employees. Ensure team members receive all required training to do their jobs safely and efficiently.
  • Actively involved in communication with Maintenance, Engineering, Asset Integrity and outside services daily. Lead all activities associated with turnarounds, commissioning and start up projects.

Who you are:

  • 8+ years of relevant confirmed experience
  • 3+ years conventional oil and gas field and facility operations experience
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills required.
  • Strong decision making and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license (driver’s abstract is required)
  • Experience in high sour environments preferred.
  • Pumpjack experience preferred.
  • Refridge plant experience preferred.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • High School diploma or equivalent experience

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver’s abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate
