Description:
MINIMUM POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Must have certification for the following:
- Fire Officer I
- Fire Instructor I
- Fire Inspector I
- Airport Firefighter
- Must possess a National Registry Emergency Medical Responder (NREMR)
- Must possess a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) BASIC level or above
- Minimum of one year experience at that duty position.
- Training must be accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or National Professional Qualification System (NPQS). IFSAC or NPQS seals on the training certificates provide evidence of IFSAC or NPQS accreditation or foreign nation equivalent.
- Must be physically fit, present a neat appearance, and maintain safety-related grooming standards.
- Must be medically cleared to wear a SCBA mask PRIOR to arrival at AAAF.
- Shall have and maintain a current CPR card issued by either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- High school diploma is required or equivalent vocational/trade school.
- Ability to read and write English is required.
- Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Possess a valid issued driver’s license, passport from their country and could obtain a work visa.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
- Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
- Prefer candidate who has experience working on a US Government contract.

Responsibilities:
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Crew Chief leads a team to provide quality resource protection and firefighting support for structural, aircraft, and other fire-related hazardous operations. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as lead crew member to provide quality resource protection and firefighting support for structural, aircraft, and other fire-related hazardous operations in accordance with contract and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards.
- Perform fire suppression, rescue, and prevention activities as directed by Fire Chief to ensure adequate response and minimize loss of life and property.
- Ensure assigned firefighting personnel, vehicles, and equipment are operational and available in accordance with contractual standards.
- Ensure responses to alarms and conduct of operations are accomplished with maximum safety and professionalism.
- Maintain close coordination with company, department and customer personnel.
