Overview
The Lead for Essential Clinical Training Review is an exciting, fixed term role leading on a review of the clinical training needs of our non-medical, clinical staff and mapping of essential training programmes within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The post-holder will be required to develop and maintain strong, productive working relationships across our Trust and with our education partners, being a visible and accessible presence.

Job Purpose

  • To ensure the clinical, non-clinical & acute skills training of our non-medical, clinical staff equips our workforce to deliver our vision of providing Best Care for Everyone.
  • To establish the specific clinical training needs for our clinical professions and to map essential educational programmes essential for staff to undertake their role.
  • To ensure that at the point of recruitment, clinical staff training and upskilling needs are understood and systematic in enrolment.
  • The post-holder will continue to build on the current review being undertaken for Trust Induction and the current provision of clinical skills training within Education & Development Services and the wider specialty specific core training.

Key Relationships & Communication

The Lead for Essential Clinical Training Review is required to:

  • Review existing training programmes essential to role across a variety of clinical professions in the organisation and generate a report of key findings.
  • Work with clinical trainers & professional education practitioners in Education & Development services to distinguish the current skills offering and map educational programmes to different learner groups, ensuring that all stakeholders are engaged in any implementation processes.
  • Develop a programme of clinical skills and acute skills training, collaborating with stakeholders in Education, Learning & Development, workforce leads and Trust communications team
  • Communicate complex messages and proposals effectively with a range of staff at all levels in the Trust up to Board and Non-Executive Director level as well as with our partnering organisations (i.e. Higher Education Institutes, Integrated Care System). This includes a wide range of methods to communicate including business cases/reports, formal presentations to large numbers of people and more intense one to one interaction.
  • Build and sustain successful working relationships with colleagues in other Health Care agencies to foster a strong ethos of partnership working

Key Deliverables

  • Lead the implementation of the acute & clinical skills training needs analysis and review for the organisation, in line with the People and Organisational Development Strategy: Caring for those who care and supporting the enabling pillars.
  • Work with The Head of Education, Learning and Development Service and Senior Team to lead on mapping skills and competency training needs within GHFT.
  • Establish a robust reporting process/system for clinical skills competencies, reviewing existing records and risks associated with it.
  • Establish a method of enrolment to specific training at the stage of appointment for staff in the organisation to ensure timely access to essential training for their role.
  • Work with The Head of Education, Learning & Development and wider education teams and educators, and HEI to lead on the delivery of an Career Pathway for educators within our organisation.
  • Audit, review and evaluate education activity that supports Trust Strategic objectives and aligns to the continuing transformation of GHFT and its specialty services
  • Contribute to GHFT reporting and recording processes through Board/Committee papers and regular data returns.
