Job Description:

LEAD GEOLOGIST

Crescent Petroleum Upstream is seeking a technical lead for geology to join the Subsurface Team. The Lead Geologist will be managing a team of geologists and provide technical leadership for all geology related studies including, but not limited to, regional geological syntheses, structural geology, reservoir characterisation, geomodelling, petroleum systems and geochemistry. An important part of this is managing team performance (goal setting and performance evaluation) and team development (identify training needs and support career advancement). In addition, the Lead Geologist is expected to lead the geology part of Upstream’s well delivery process and provide technical support to ongoing drilling operations as well as providing technical support to area asset managers and field development projects. Furthermore, it is expected that the Lead Geologist take part in the annual workplan and budget process to provide the necessary input pertaining to the geology domain. An important part of the Lead Geologist role is to plan and manage geology project to ensure on-time delivery within budget.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Geology/Geoscience - MSc or PhD degree is preferred
  • 12-15+ years in geology (E&P Operating Company or Geoscience Consultancy)

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Held similar positions leading high-performance technical teams
  • Proven experience in managing geophysical projects
  • Expertise in interpretation and processing of geology and geochemistry data
  • Must be fluent in English, while skills in Arabic are an advantage
  • Must be proficient in Petrel whereas skills in other industry software is an advantage

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of geologists, providing technical guidance
  • Undertake, manage, and deliver high quality technical project work
  • Provide technical scope and deliverables for project proposals
  • Contribute to business development activities
  • Manage execution of geological projects ensuring timely delivery within budget
  • Develop and implement strategic goals and objectives for the geology team
  • Organise and contribute to partner workshops and meetings
  • Track performance and manage costs of geology budget items
  • Evaluation of geological contracts including evaluation of new technologies and equipment
  • Design and oversee acquisition, processing, and interpretation of geological data
  • Advise on best tools and software choices for geological data acquisition and processing
  • Design acquisition reporting templates and other appropriate documentation
  • Oversee geological interpretation and cross discipline data integration
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, presentations, and documentation
  • Present interpretations, and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders
  • Provide mentoring and technical assistance to younger technical staff
