Reporting to the Director, Global Compensation, the Global Investments Compensation Lead will be responsible for providing advisory services to senior business leaders and HR business partners within our investment teams, in alignment with OMERS compensation philosophy and strategy. The role will also develop compensation policies and provide guidance on the implementation of compensation plans in line with industry leading practices.
Responsibilities:
AS A MEMBER OF THIS TEAM, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Responsible for conducting competitive positioning, strong and detailed technical analysis and preparing compensation recommendations that support business partners in their ability to impact strategic business decisions and drive results
Lead the design and maintenance of total compensation plans and policies for OMERS investment teams, maintaining market competitiveness and alignment with business strategy
Accountable to present outputs and recommendations to senior business leaders
Providing forecast lead with up to date and accurate employee and executive data file on a quarterly basis, including terminated employees and one-time payments
Answering questions related to file and ensure forecast lead understands any employee and executive related nuances, especially on new employees or terminated employees
Partner with People Experience (PEX) leadership to execute newly designed global compensation processes, continuously improve based on trends and analysis, and make recommendations to resolve exceptions
Drive strategic priorities of the compensation team (e.g., simplification of incentivized compensation frameworks)
Identify changes on compensation policies, processes and programs, and partner with the PEX team to update knowledge management content
Determine the appropriate compensation benchmarking and market surveys to be performed on an annual basis and consult on and off-cycle survey requests, in partnership with vendors
Act as escalation point for compensation queries and exceptions from PEX
Develops strong external networks and liaises with compensation peers in other organizations/industries to share compensation information and exchange best practices
Support the development of compensation reports and recommendations for Human Resources Committee review and approval
TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU HAVE:
University degree in a related discipline or equivalent in experience and education. Professional HR designation an asset
5– 7 years of related work experience, with a focus on Global Compensation
Ability to consult and translate business needs into HR plans and programs that support the achievement of business goals and objectives
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and senior management; experience with Board relations an asset
Organization skills with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a complex environment, managing multiple priorities and time constraints
Strong MS Office skills, including advanced level Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
Ability to think and act strategically and to operationalize strategy into long- and short-term implications
A team player, high results orientation, independent self-starter
Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a complex environment, with multiple priorities and minimum supervision
Organizational agility, with a high level of comfort in dealing with employees and executives at all levels
Ability to build rapport and maintain high level of confidence and integrity at all levels of the organization
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
As required by New York City law, OMERS provides a reasonable range of base salary for each role that is advertised in New York City. The salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set and level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered. For New York City only , the annualized base salary range for this role is $90,000 - $140,000.
You may also be eligible to receive an annual Incentive Award which may include Short-term Incentive and Long-Term Incentive payments, benefits, and/or retirement savings plan – details on these elements of compensation are included within OMERS offer letters.
The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. The base salary that is ultimately offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set.
