QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to handle heavy lifting of up to 25kg boxes.
  • Experience with food safety and HACCP principles.
  • Must be dependable and hold an above average attendance record.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to create/manage a team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with little supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Responsible for operating hand truck.

    Pay Rate: $23.85-$25.85 per hour, plus attendance bonus and shift premium

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Production Lead hand and Supervisor, the Packaging Lead hand is responsible for the efficient operation of the packaging end of the processing line, ensuring maximum efficiency and compliance with all standards. The Packaging Lead hand will be responsible for following established food safety and quality procedures.

This position requires a flexible work schedule of mornings, afternoons and weekends. The successful candidate must be able to lead and motivate production employees to ensure quality, on-time results. Some of the general duties are as follows:

  • Ensure proper set up of equipment, availability of supplies and meet planned production schedules, customer specifications and packaging specifications. (Boxes/bags/labels/codes/etc.)
  • Adhere to food safety and HACCP procedures.
  • Perform appropriate checks on equipment, packaging, processing procedures in your area to ensure that all product packaging meets company and customer specifications.
  • Organize, allocate and monitor available manpower, ensure fair rotation of positions and adherence to job procedures.
  • Provide regular feedback to employees and Supervisor regarding staff performance. Provide open communications and clear expectations to staff, immediate action on disciplinary issues and report all problems to the supervisor.
  • Provide training for new workers in product quality, procedures, safety and hygiene.
  • Ensure accurate production and QA records such as CCP’s and SOP’s.
  • Prepare a workable rotation schedule when necessary. Delegate duties to staff in alignment with production requirements. Maximize staff efficiencies where the line is down.
  • Ensure acceptable housekeeping of packing area at all times.
  • Maintain current hand truck certificate and follow safe driving procedures.
  • Remove skids of finished product to the dock with hand truck.
  • Other duties as directed by Production Lead hand or Supervisor.
