MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications.
  • Have true sense of ownership and pride in your work
  • Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines in a timely manner
  • Experience in food industry is a definite asset
  • Excellent teamwork, inter-personal and leadership skills
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and days of work
  • Be able to lift, carry, push or pull moderate weights (up to 50kg).

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Production Supervisor to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and production schedule are met.
  • Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that production procedures are followed and meet all GMP and safety requirements.
  • Arrange for and train temporary and permanent staff in performance of tasks for efficient line operations
  • Report all quality, production and equipment issues Production Team Leader, maintenance and Production Manager in a timely manner.
  • Be responsible for efficient, high quality operation of assigned production lines
  • Assist Production Team Leader to ensure production targets are achieved, including monitoring staffing, waste, productivity
  • Ensure efficient and effective line change-overs
  • Ensure preventative maintenance on equipment and partner with maintenance for equipment trouble-shooting/repair
  • Be responsible for ensuring sanitation standards are adhered to
  • Monitor product quality (including sampling/record-keeping) to ensure products meet required specifications – including immediately addressing issues with QC Technicians, Supervisor, Maintenance staff as required to minimize waste and downtime
  • Accountability for the general operation and efficiencies of production operations.
  • Provide leadership for all aspects of operations including employee health, safety and training, product quality, production effectiveness, cost control and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure company policy and departmental Standard Operating Procedures, forms and work aids are developed, implemented, enforced and reviewed.
  • Identify and lead small capital projects within the department as required by Production Team Leader.
  • Provide direction to staff regarding assigned tasks and performance expectations through the use of clear job descriptions, regular performance conversations, coaching and team meetings.
  • Conduct spot investigations/ audits and regular inspections to ensure all work is performed safely.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with employees.
