Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Lead of Health and Safety at Encepta, you will play a critical role in creating and sustaining a culture of safety. This position is ideal for a proactive professional who excels in adapting to change, solving complex problems, and driving continuous improvement. Reporting to the Director of Field Operations, you will lead safety initiatives, develop communication materials, educate employees on safety procedures, investigate health and safety issues, conduct safety inspections, and take decisive action to ensure the well-being of our workforce and compliance with industry standards. You will guide and implement corrective actions based on investigation findings and participate in Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees (JOHSC). This is a part-time role and will require 20 hours per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program Management & Development: Manage and enhance Encepta’s Health and Safety Program, including planning, implementing, and monitoring safety documentation and records.
- Risk Assessment & Safety Compliance: Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and implement control measures. Perform routine safety inspections and internal audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Training & Emergency Preparedness: Maintain and deliver safety training programs, plan emergency response drills, and ensure workforce preparedness through practice events.
- Incident Management & Policy Updates: Lead investigations for near-miss incidents and work-related issues, develop corrective actions, and update safety policies based on regulatory changes and best practices.
- Stakeholder Management & Reporting: Act as the employer’s Health and Safety representative on JOHSC, provide monthly progress reports, and promote safety culture through management collaboration.
- Contractor Oversight: Review contractor incident reports, corrective actions, and pre-qualification documentation while monitoring ongoing contractor processes.
- Compliance & Auditing: Monitor compliance with COR requirements, manage annual COR audit, and perform regular safety program maintenance audits to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
