Salary: Scale PO 9-12 (£48,894 - £52,491)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time (37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday)

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking to appoint a Lead Health and Wellbeing Nurse, with a varied amount of experience in Occupational Health, as well as a qualification either to degree or diploma level.
As the Lead Nurse you will manage and develop a team of qualified professionals to deliver appropriate health and wellbeing support and advice, as well as provide a high-quality screening service of appropriate medical examinations for employees and potential employees across NYP, NYFRS and the OPFCC.
Working with the Health and Wellbeing Manager and in partnership with service users, you will a through effectively leading the team deliver bespoke, quality wellbeing initiatives. By continually evaluating the services with associated key performance indicators, we will create a positive impact for improving the service to provide effective education and prevention strategies, to create a healthy workforce.

REQUIREMENTS

  • An RGN and Occupational Health qualification (diploma or degree) and a current NMC registration with significant post qualification experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and developing wellbeing occupational health services.
  • Leading a team to deliver excellent customer service and an understanding of current physical health issues with the drive to keep abreast of current initiatives and best practice.
  • Strong, impactful communication and effective contingency planning skills.
  • The ability to manage a demanding caseload and organise time effectively to cope with the pressures of managing a team providing physical health services.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the delivery of proactive programmes to enhance the wellbeing of employees in NYP, NYFRS and the OFPCC.
  • To be responsible for the medical clearance for recruitment of staff, attending review boards and offering professional advice in line with occupational health requirements.
  • To manage and develop the Wellbeing nursing team to be a high performing centre of excellence, delivering high quality products and services with excellent customer service.
  • To manage expenditure, including monitoring the service provision from suppliers against contract, ensuring SLA’s are met and best value principles are maintained.
  • Participate in user/service groups to actively contribute to seek to continuously improve wellbeing services including development and implementation of relevant processes, procedures and guidance ensuring alignment with the People Services strategy, codes of practice and legislation.
  • To scope and undertake research or project work on specific initiatives, including preparation of business cases or other relevant reports as required.
  • Promotion and enhancement of the concept of staff physical health and wellbeing, helping to raise awareness of the role and its function to employees across all organisations.
  • Manage a caseload and provide professional and confidential support and advice to individuals and managers within NYP, NYFRS and the OFPCC in accordance with policy & procedure, practices and applicable regulations.
  • Liaise with the wider People Services team regarding general staff care issues, training needs, policy and practice, without any breach of confidentiality or compromise to the nature of this post.
  • To ensure the provision of statistical information of activities, to identify any organisational issues or wellbeing trends within the workforce, ensuring these are escalated and communicated appropriately.
  • Provide support and management information to assess the impact of the wellbeing services provision and assist with future planning of the service ensuring activity reflects best practice and business objectives.
  • To lead in the delivery of education and prevention initiatives as well as advising other areas of the organisations on physical occupational health related issues, including inductions, meetings and training events.
