At Eastcott Veterinary Referrals, we are looking for a forward-thinking, proactive and enthusiastic individual who strives to provide the very best for their patients. We encourage a collaborative approach, empowering all team members to communicate openly with their ideas and improvements.

ABOUT US

Eastcott Veterinary Hospital is an RCVS Accredited Multidisciplinary Referral Practice based in Swindon, Wiltshire, just off the M4. Our referral hospital is led by a team of Veterinary Specialists who provide an exceptionally high level of clinical and surgical veterinary care. The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in all disciplines, and our team offers a warm welcome to referring vets, clients, and patients.
We are a veterinary clinic and referral multi-disciplinary practice that offers the highest care services for small animals. With our primary care and 24-hour emergency services, we care for pets from all over the south as well as animals in our local community. We believe excellence is at the heart of both clinical standards and customer service to make sure our patients have the best quality care.
At Linnaeus, we are committed to supporting the physical and mental health of all our Associates. We have an amazing team of Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) across our practices and central support office in addition to a confidential Employee Assistance Programme which is available for everyone.

Responsibilities:

The Lead Medicine RVN will work collaboratively with the Head of Nursing Services (HoNS), Team Leaders, Lead Nurses, and Heads of Service across the hospital to ensure the efficient delivery of outstanding patient care within the medicine department. We are looking for an individual who demonstrates positive leadership skills and works enthusiastically with the nursing team to help maintain a happy and efficient working environment, whilst ensuring practice and group policies are adhered to. This role requires strong, decisive, clear communication and the ability to inspire and motivate the team in order to deliver the Linnaeus nursing strategy and achieve the hospital’s goals.
You will be welcomed into a skilled and encouraging medicine team comprised of 6 clinicians, 3 medicine nurses and 1 medicine technician. Day to day work will remain primarily clinical, managing the running of the day while assisting with oncology, imaging and endoscopy procedures, long-term case management and nurse consultations. As a focused role, we recognise and appreciate your area of special interest & expertise and so your work will be scheduled and prioritised within the internal medicine department; though may be required to help in another area within the capabilities of an RVN on occasion.
Your leadership responsibilities will include providing line management and training to team members, conducting performance reviews, SOP development and coordination for all relevant personnel working within your team.
