Description:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an exceptional Pharmacy Technician to join our large and friendly pharmacy team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
The successful post holder will be working closely with UHCW’s growing Community Services team as we treat more patients closer to home.
They will also work closely with our Interface and Formulary Pharmacist to ensure evidence based, equitable and financially sustainable access to medicines for our patients.
The successful candidate will hold a senior position within the department and will be a role model as we push forward with our forward facing pharmacy vision.

The role is offered on a full-time basis. You will be based at University Hospital Coventry, a PFI hospital opened in 2006 which is situated just off the junction of the M6 and M69.

We are a large Acute Teaching Hospital of approximately 1300 beds. Our pharmacy department has an innovative approach to pharmaceutical care with a ward-based technician service and pharmacist led clinics. We have strong links with the Medical School at Warwick University and the department of Medicines Management at Keele University.
The post provides an opportunity to develop a deep understanding of community services and medicine approval pathways, interacting at depth with MDT’s and across the ICS.
They will be responsible for ongoing audit of a number of community sites to provide ongoing assurance of our medicines management practices.
The successful candidate will ensure that all patients receive medication at the appropriate time through effective supply via the many different routes including dispensary, outpatient prescriptions, FP10 prescriptions and the use of pre-labelled stock medications within the community setting.
To assist and engage with the UHCW Drugs and Therapeutics Committee and Area Prescribing Committee to facilitate the timely access to medicines and pathways.
To ensure the upkeep of the UHCW Medicines Formulary in line with local, regional and national updates.
Successful candidates will be based within the UHCW Pharmacy Department but spend regular time across our community sites.

Ensure the day to day operational management of a pharmacy provision to our community services group is undertaken.
To schedule regular and routine visits to all of our community service sites.
To build strong relationships both within and outside the UHCW Pharmacy Department, in particular those across Community Services.
To review and optimise the associated operational and technical processes involved with the supply of medicines to community services and sites.
Ensure that all patients receive medication at the appropriate time through effective supply via the many different routes including dispensary, outpatient prescriptions, FP10 prescriptions and the use of pre-labelled stock medications within the community setting.
To liaise and engage with the Pharmacy Operational team on any service provision changes which could impact the wider pharmacy department.
To lead on the audit of medicines management across community services, including but not exclusively, medicines storage, controlled stationary storage and temperature control.
To work closely with the UHCW Pharmacy Procurement team alongside the Governance and Safety team to manage any medicines shortages that affect community services.
Responsible for providing assurance and developing medicines management /optimisation initiatives to ensure efficient and cost-effective patient services are provided leading on any significant changes and projects.
To help manage the use of FP10 prescription pads within community services.
