About this role:
The Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) group provides technology solutions and support for Risk, Audit, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Properties, and Stakeholder Relations business lines. In addition, EFT provides unique technology solutions and innovation for Wells Fargo Technology, Enterprise Shared Services, and Enterprise Data Management. This combined portfolio of applications and tools are continually engineered to meet the challenges of stability, security, scalability, and speed. We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Risk and Internal Audit (RIAT) organization in EFT to provide guidance related to design and delivery of Risk data and applications.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
  • Recommend system enhancements and performance improvements.
  • Remediate security vulnerabilities and implement technology mandates in a timely matter to remain system compliant

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of information technology design experience including systems, applications or architecture
  • 5+ years of working in financial services organization
  • 5+ years of experience following the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • 5+ years of Agile / Scrum experience
  • 5+ years of API design and implementation experience
  • 5+ years of Java or Python development experience
  • 3+ years of UI (User Interface) experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Data warehousing experience across any of the platforms - SQL, Big data or Cloud
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Experience with building enterprise applications using Java, Workflow technologies like JBPM, Business Intelligence tools (Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Experience with Architecture and Design of enterprise systems
  • Exposure to cloud technologies
