Description:
The Lead Specialty Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for activities related to specialty prescriptions: supporting and executing the fulfillment of prescriptions to patients from adjudication, billing and shipment, reports, standard operating procedures and report issues and/or requests for enhancements to senior management.
The Lead Specialty Pharmacy Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the specialty workflow to ensure patients receive their high-cost medications accurately and on time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pharmacy Assistant Diploma required
- 3 – 5 years’ experience as a pharmacy assistant required
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
- Proficient in Kroll Software
- Strong analytical and problem- solving capability
- Ability to thrive in a challenging, demanding, and rapidly changing environment without close supervision
- Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to prioritize
- Flexibility to adapt & accept various tasks to ensure the overall team objectives are met
Responsibilities:
- Accurately enter and process specialty prescriptions through Kroll including third party adjudication and rescheduling of future fills on the internal workflow management system
- Manage the Specialty inventory levels and complete cycle counts
- Maintain specialty case workflow in internal platform workflow
- Investigate/solve/respond to the reason for the communication, including but not limited to specialty prescription transfers, refill requests, payment solutions, and shipment tracking.
- Communicate and follow-up with pharmacy providers, patient support programs and prescribers regarding specialty patients
- Provide updates and reports to management on specialty prescriptions, delivery confirmations and trends
- Escalate complex situations as necessary to internal stakeholders
- Participate in team meetings on process improvement and patient adherence strategies aid in management assigned tasks and projects.
- Assist in training staff on specialty pharmacy procedures
