Description:

DESCRIPTION

Lead Sterile Processing Technician within Surgical Services at Providence Saint Johns Health Center in Santa Monica, CA. This position is full-time and will work 8-hour Day shifts.
Coordinates, supervises and educates staff regarding activities associated with surgical instrument preparation, including instruments by procedure and instrument count sheets for assigned services. Organizes inventories and maintains sterile instrument inventory system for assigned services. Works collaboratively with departments to identify instrument needs. Assists in the training of personnel in general instrumentation procedures and specific complex instrumentation. Coordinates instrument repairs for surgical services. Coordinates the department and ensures proper technique is followed in order to maintain a safe sterile processing unit. Manages the orientation of new staff, on-going staff education, and daily operational decision making. Participates in staff development and job performance reviews. Performs duties in a manner that supports team concepts, excellent customer satisfaction, and exceptional patient care.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 year Instrumentation/sterilization experience in an acute/ambulatory hospital
  • Upon hire: National Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or National Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution
  • Within 1 year of hire: Certified Endoscope Reprocessor - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution
  • Within 1 year of hire: Certified Instrument Specialist - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association Or Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Training in Sterile Processing
  • Associate’s Degree
  • 5 years recent instrumentation/sterilization experience in an acute hospital
  • 1 year Leadership experience
  • 5 years Instrumentation/sterilization experience in an ambulatory care setting
