Description:

Please note: This specific posting is for out-of-town contract work. Some contracts will require a 14/14 rotation (fly-in/fly-out) to rural areas, with travel costs provided by the employer. Contracts are a minimum of 3-5 months to start with the possibility for extension, dependent on performance. Some contracts will be out of the province (within Canada), while others will be in Ontario. Please specify your preference when applying. We have additional job postings for local work.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3-5 recent years of experience in surveying, with significant experience in using UAVs, GNSS systems, Total Station, AutoCAD, GIS.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS software. Strong technical skills in UAV operations and GNSS systems, and in basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Valid G class driver’s license (or equivalent) and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Basic First Aid/CPR certification or willing to obtain prior to employment commencement (training can be provided at the employer’s expense.

The Lead Surveyor at Labrosse Consulting Inc. will be responsible for conducting detailed surveys using UAVs, GNSS systems, and other advanced technologies on various sites including civil construction and mining sites. The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD and significant experience with GIS to ensure precise data collection and analysis. The Lead Surveyor position offers more experienced individuals an opportunity to guide less experienced Surveyors with hands-on knowledge without management responsibilities.

  • College diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, Mining Engineering Technology or a related field is an asset. Certification as a C.E.T or C.Tech is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act safety regulations and standards. Familiarity with industry-specific safety requirements.
  • Will be required to obtain certification through internal training programs to become a licensed UAV Pilot through Transport Canada.
  • In-depth understanding of surveying principles, methods, and technologies. Familiarity with civil construction and mining site requirements.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and handle physical tasks such as carrying equipment and setting up survey markers. Ability to lift at minimum 44lbs on a regular basis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the capability to conduct effective training sessions and lead less experienced Surveyors.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset but NOT required.
  • Previous experience working in a fly-in/fly-out camp setting is an asset but NOT required.
