Responsible for organizing and coordinating planning activities for the design, implementation and maintenance of a multi-year Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery infrastructure (Architecture, Network Services and Cybersecurity) strategy and Annual Operating Plan to enable alignment to business priorities, efficiency, cost savings, risk mitigation, resiliency and the overall improved time to market.

Here is what you will be doing:

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate technology continuity planning and disaster recovery activities for the design, implementation and maintenance of a multi-year DxH Infrastructure Strategy Cycle and annual Operating Plan Cycle, to enable alignment to business priorities, efficiency, cost savings, risk mitigation, resiliency and improved time to market. This includes but not limited to Capacity Management, Network Currency, Technology and Security Controls (e.g., Risks, Roadmaps, Dashboards), and development, validation and maintenance of DxH Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) Plans (e.g., DxH BC/DR Policy, DxH BC/DR Standards, DxH BC/DR Processes) across Public and Private Clouds including SaaS solutions.
  • Strong proven expertise in designing and building technical solutions and their roadmaps following industry best practices and the organization’s cybersecurity policies, by meeting with and leading discussions with Product owners to collect relevant data and metrics, and influence future Product design to maintain currency and eliminate technical debt.
  • Lead and develop the criteria and framework for a multi-year Infrastructure/Service roadmap that supports business directions and addresses technology debt, Product technology currency and capacity management. Facilitate Infrastructure Services’ annual operational planning cycle with Infrastructure Technology and Product owners, review activities as required, co-ordinate responses, follow-up and monitor progress.
  • Lead automation using various technology scripting tools for configuration and troubleshooting, creation of dashboards and reporting mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with management to identify work priorities; assign and monitor work progress and quality. Lead, guide, mentor and train less senior systems engineers and new hires.
  • Align with cross-functional DxH departments to create and maintain infrastructure resilience standards or deviations from normal readings.
  • Align with IT Service Management (ITSM) to assess infrastructure services and providers to ensure continuous systems availability and resilience improvement feedback loop for evolving DxH Strategy and Operating Plans.
  • Lead and coordinate initiation of Infrastructure/Services initiatives supported by DxH Strategy and Operating Plan.
  • Drive alignment on target state of technology and service resilience across all DxH departments (e.g., Products, Architecture, Network Services, Technology Planning, Cyber Security Defense, Cloud CoE, Cloud Operations and Platforms, ITSM, Infrastructure, Enterprise Products) and in supporting organization’s Cloud First Vision.
  • Build relationships across DxH to optimize engineering effectiveness.
  • Foster awareness, make recommendations, and provide advice/guidance on risks and changing technology/industry direction on strategy and operating plans.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on risk management, resilience and the creation and maintenance of product/service Roadmaps and Dashboards using various tools.
  • Makes decisions where results have significant impact across the organization requiring sophisticated solutions and long-term correction. Decisions impact on DxH resilience and availability of DxH BC/DR Plan, network currency risk management, including the associated compliance risks, operational risks, financial risks and Cyber security risks and posture, systems availability and performance.
  • Lead and coordinate provisioning of specifications/evaluation of responses for strategic procurements of Infrastructure/Services.

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 7 – 10 years of experience as a Senior Engineer or related discipline, designing and implementing complex systems.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of technology planning/service roadmaps, Strategy and Operating Plan development.
  • Professional Certifications from ISACA, DRII, Azure.
  • Project Management certification or sufficient PM work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry trends and directions for:
  • (1) Data Centre and Cloud technologies, including SaaS, co-location, facilities and green operations;
  • (2) Hosting, including compute, storage, network, resiliency/recoverability, information assurance (e.g. archiving), security, common services (e.g. DNS), enterprise management, virtualization, cloud;
  • (3) Corporate technologies, including Active Directory, desktop/virtual desktop, mobile, social, enterprise mail, information assurance (e.g. archiving), enterprise architecture principles and management.
  • Solid understanding of Currency and Capacity Management of computer/storage/network resources with skills to interpret observed capacity utilization and trending data from various sources.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Reporting tools (e.g., Tivoli, MS Fabric, PowerBI or other capacity/performance reporting tools). Familiarity with enterprise class virtualization platforms, storage devices, network/security architecture and their associated technology.
  • Experience with and in-depth knowledge of procurement processes (gathering requirements to evaluation of vendors’ response).
  • Solid understanding of policies, cross organizational roles, risk management, and governance.
  • Strong knowledge of organizational processes and business models.
  • Strong Knowledge of Economics of Computing, including costing and pricing models, assessing efficiencies.
