JOB SUMMARY:

This posting is an opportunity to submit your resume for future consideration; this is not a role that is open at this time. We anticipate this role may be open in the future, but we are not actively hiring for the position. If you would like to be considered for this potential role, please submit your resume. If the role becomes available, you may receive an email or call from a recruiter.
We are looking for a phenomenal teammate to join our Texture team. We are a passionate team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of creativity in digital artistry. As the Lead Texture Artist, you will be instrumental in crafting the textures, and intricate surface details that bring our CG creatures and hard-surface models to life in our production.
At ILM, a good idea is a good idea, regardless of where it comes from! Do you thrive in a creative environment? Do you enjoy sharing knowledge and learning from others? If you love art, technology, and movies, then this might be the role you’re looking for!
ILM strives to be an inclusive environment, and the DMS team embraces promising individuals with a variety backgrounds and experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Work unaccompanied and with production team (VFX Supervisor, Texture Supervisor) at an advanced level to implement the desired look of complicated CG models, including complex creatures and/or hard surface models, including ships, real world vehicles and environments
  • Create complicated textures, colours, and organic surface qualities needed in the completion of CG creatures and hard-surface models used in production
  • Set up asset pipeline following Supervisor’s specifications; in absence of Texture Supervisor, assume governing role over Texture team and ensures accurate Texture pipeline set-up
  • Participate as a team member in identifying various design solutions; provide feedback to other members of the production by attending dailies on a regular basis
  • Provide texture feedback and oversight for Third Party Partners
  • Work by one’s self, with input from Art Directors, Modelers, and Look-Development TD’s, to achieve desired look of photo-real models
  • Mentor junior and mid-level artists
  • Maintain or exceed consistent level of productivity while meeting scheduled targets and producing high quality work
